In 2004, armed Chechen rebels stormed a school in Beslan, Russia, taking over 1,100 people hostage. It ended three days later with 700 people injured and 334 people dead; 186 of them children.
How do we begin to discuss the atrocity of Terrorism? How does it affect us? How does it affect our kids?
Us/Them is a haunting, surprising, always captivating account of the siege as told by two hostage students. It offers a child's understanding of coping with trauma and why people commit unthinkable acts.
